MUSEUM OF LOVE OPENS IN BROOKLYN

In time for Valentine’s Day, the Museum of Love has opened its doors to the public as an art exhibit at a Brooklyn gallery, Kris Waldherr Art and Words.

"Along the Lover's Path: Curious Treasures from the Museum of Love" brings to life the Museo di Palazzo Filomela -- aka "the Museum of Love" -- an Italian Renaissance museum of the imagination created by author, artist and designer Kris Waldherr in her illustrated novel THE LOVER'S PATH. Waldherr is also the author of DOOMED QUEENS, THE BOOK OF GODDESSES and other books.

The exhibit is on display until April 4, 2009. It presents sumptuously romantic art and artifacts of famous lovers, such as Cupid and Psyche and Dante and Beatrice. The Museum of Love already has a home on the web at www.museumoflove.org, where visitors can read classic love stories, view paintings of historic lovers, send love letters, get free love tarot readings, and purchase gifts.

Kris Waldherr Art and Words gallery is located at 1501 Newkirk Avenue in Ditmas Park, Brooklyn. Upcoming Valentine's Day events include a Date Night on February 13 6:30-9 pm, where couples can get free love tarot readings, and a children's Valentine art workshop on February 14, 1-3 pm. For additional gallery hours and events, visit www.ArtandWords.com or call 347-406-5811.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

MUSEUM OF LOVE OPEN FOR VISITORS

In time for Valentine’s Day, the Museum of Love (www.museumoflove.org) has opened its virtual doors to the public. The Museum of Love is the creation of Kris Waldherr, author of the bestselling Goddess Tarot, THE BOOK OF GODDESSES and THE LOVER'S PATH.

The Museum of Love is intended as the most romantic destination on the web. It takes the form of the Museo di Palazzo Filomela, or the Palace of the Nightingale, set in a mythic Renaissance Venice. Within this museum of the imagination, you can read retellings of classic love stories, such as Cupid and Psyche or Dante and Beatrice. You can also view paintings of historic lovers, send a love letter, get a free love tarot reading and purchase romantic gifts.

The Museum of Love was inspired by Waldherr's publications, THE LOVER'S PATH and THE LOVER'S PATH TAROT. Set in Renaissance Venice, THE LOVER'S PATH maps a journey where wisdom may be gained by daring to love another. Says Waldherr, "I’d also like to think that the Museum will help to light the flames of love, and also offer catharsis for the bruised of heart. Which means all of us -- who hasn't experienced love or had their heart broken at some time?"

To visit the Museum of Love, go to www.museumoflove.org. Unlike a “real” museum, you can visit anytime and from any place. All you need is love — and a computer.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

FOLLOW THE LOVER'S PATH FOR VALENTINE'S DAY

In time for Valentine’s Day, bestselling author-illustrator Kris Waldherr (The Goddess Tarot, The Book of Goddesses) invites readers to follow the lover’s path in a compellingly romantic illustrated novel, THE LOVER’S PATH (Abrams, $24.95).

Inspired by the true story of fifteenth-century courtesan Tullia d’Aragona, THE LOVER’S PATH tells the saga of Filamena Ziani, a renowned singer and composer, a woman of independent means, and the younger sister of the most famous courtesan in Venice. Orphaned as an infant, Filamena has come of age bent like a branch to her sister’s will. Then a dark-haired stranger offers Filamena a gift that will change her life: a single ripe plum and an invitation to walk along the lover’s path, wherever it may lead.

THE LOVER’S PATH interweaves Filamena’s tale of forbidden love with retellings of classic love stories (including Tristan and Isolde and Cupid and Psyche), Italian Renaissance-inspired illustrations and maps, and mysterious love letters that must be opened to be read. It brings to life the rich sensuality of a remarkable era in Venetian history.

Waldherr has also published a Lover’s Path Tarot kit devoted to queries of the heart. They’re perfect gifts for those in love and those yearning for love. If that isn't enough to inspire people for Valentine's Day, an exhibition of original art from THE LOVER'S PATH will be on display at Waldherr's studio-gallery, Kris Waldherr Art and Words from February 6th through April 4, 2009. Kris Waldherr Art and Words is located at 1501 Newkirk Avenue in Brooklyn; gallery hours are Fridays 5-8pm and Saturdays 1-5pm. Learn more at www.museumoflove.org.

"In my dreams, he and I are always young and hopeful. We are immersed in the azure sea surrounding our island; he is teaching me how to swim . . . The water rushes about us as we navigate it, leading us both toward that country of desire he called the lover's path."
